Hotspotsystem, multiple AP's and multiple SSID's

    Dear all,

    One of my customers is asking me the following configuration :

    – Multiple AP’s (the area is large and needs 2-3 AP’s)
    – Multiple SSID’s (“Public” controlled by a Hotspotsystem plan + “Private” with WPA2 encryption and direct access to Internet).

    I could use a Cisco Small Business infrastructure using VLAN tagging (I installed a similar one in the past for a large company), but this is too expensive for my customer.

    I checked Ubiquiti and Mikrotik solutions, but I’m not sure they support multiple SSID’s and VLAN IEEE 802.1q tagging.

    Does anyone of you have a suggestion? I’ll appreciate…

    Hello,

    Certain Mikrotik models support 802.1q vlan tagging, see: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Switch_Chip_Features#Example_-_802.1Q_Trunking_with_Atheros_switch_chip_in_RouterOS_v6

    It is possible to use an Edgerouter also for the purpose of distributing VLANs with different SSIDs. One of our operators used Unifi’s to connect to each vlan coming from the Edgerouter.
