Installation Fail: Why Do I See "sputnik" Instead Of "hotspotsystem"?

I have the WRT54GL v1.1, serial CL7C…

Per your instructions on http://www.hotspotsystem.com/en/hotspot/install_guide_dd-wrt.html

Including the Router Setup Command.

Problem 1:

When I get to step 3 (Built-in hotspot setup) the logo HotSpotSystem is NOT shown, but instead “(((Sputnik”.

I installed

http://www.dd-wrt.com/routerdb/de/download/Linksys/WRT54GL/1.0/1.1/dd-wrt.v24_mini_generic.bin/2123

http://www.dd-wrt.com/routerdb/de/download/Linksys/WRT54GL/1.0/1.1/dd-wrt.v24_std_generic.bin/1963

Then thinking the file might be wrong (router says “DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/10/09) MINI“) I tried

http://www.dd-wrt.com/routerdb/de/download/Linksys/WRT54GL/1.0/1.1/dd-wrt.v24_vpn_generic.bin/1966

I also tried versions Std Generic, Vpn Generic, Xbox Nokaid.

Still, I looked all around but could not find chillispot. And the Services, HotSpot, HotSpotSystem portion was never available.

Problem 2:

Also, why is it that ANY change I made – with either [Save] or [Apply] will not stay (for example SSID). I get moved to page http://192.168.1.1/apply.cgi and nothing actually gets changed. There is no return from the apply.cgi page, I must go back to 192.168.1.1

Still, under Services, HotSpot, I cannot get to HOTSPOTSYSTEM to install operator username & location ID.

Urgent: Customer site is DOWN!

Based on the screenshot you still have the mini version installed. Mini is not a compatible version. You need to have a standard or mega version of dd-wrt installed.

So in case of WRT54GL you can go with:

– Build 13064 Standard Generic and use the setup command method to set it up OR

– Build 14896 Standard Generic and use the built-in Hotspot System part

For problem #2: this can be a browser issue, try it with Internet Explorer.

another thing with #2 could be restrictive intranet settings. I’ve seen similar before when people have put overly restrictive settings on their local intranet.

as Roland was saying you’ll need at least standard to be able to use the chillispot settings.

Thanks everybody for telling me that Mini is not sufficient, I know that. The problem is that FireFox will not let me get past the Apply.cgi page therefore updates were not being pushed to the router.

Solution provided by Roland:

Use IE instead of FireFox.

Once I did that everything works just fine, thank you!

And the solution to problem #2 solved #1.
