I need some help setting up the thing. My installation is a linksys grt54 gl v1.1 which in principle seems to word, but the IP is not propper. I fooled around whith the installation for many hours but could get to the end.
After command line installation I get the right hot spot, but it IP is not the right one. hotspot system shows the the hotspot is on but I cant connect the internet rather that my router locally via cable (cant find the right IP).
My installation is a internet connection via existing telecom router with on 192.168.2.1. when I connect the Linksys to this I have Internet via wireless and cable with the standard setup. After command line installation of hotspotsystem I cant access the router (linksys) any more.
what is the propper ip and dns set up for the linksys? DHCP is done by first router. What values have to be set up?
1. connection type automatic or static IP (I think static), what is the right WAN IP?
2. router IP 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.20.1 or something else?
3. gateway and DNS?
4. on what IP can I access the router after set it to the hotspotsystem
I know that must sound very strange but I need somebody who can give me an hint.
1 Since DHCP service is running on the 1st router, the Linksys router’s WAN interface should be set to automatic.
2 The router lan ip address (under setup/basic setup) refers to the router’s LAN ports. This can be set to anything you want the LAN network to be, it is usually set to 192.168.20.1. When you run the command it will set the ip address to the value as indicated in the command box.
3 You should use your ISP’s DNS servers or Google’s servers of 8.8.8.8. Gateway refers to the gateway of the LAN port, which in this case can be left blank.
4 The router’s ip address maybe changed if you use the command based setup, but if you used the built in setup method then the ip address will not change.
After a user connects to the router, he should receive an ip address on the 192.168.182.0 network (by default).
