Having Two Hotspotsystem Access Points

    Is it possible having two hotspot account for the same operator name without using wds ?

    My two routers are using DD-WRT firmware. The two tplink router are atheros based. For security reason i have a main router (link to my cable modem) who is not connect to Hotspotsystem. This REGULAR NETGEAR DD-WRT firmware based router is the one used to distributed wan ip adress to my working HOTSPOTSYSTEM TPLINK DD-WRT firmware based router.

    For the moment, i have one TPLINK DD-WRT router connect to hotspotsystem and it work fine. In fact, it would be one of the two router working together to have two HOTSPOTSYSTEM access points.

    Now i know that with these routers wds doesn’t work based on the DD-WRT site. I know that i can establish a physical link between the two of them, making sure that their local ip adress are different and are on the same subnet range. I know that i can change have two different NASID let say operator_1 for my first router and operator_2 on the second router.

    And there is an important detail too, for the configuration of a new router to make it work with HOTSPOTSYSTEM i have to use the script made by HOTSPOT SYSTEM. I can’t configure them on the SERVCES->HOTSPOTSYSTEM part of my router firmare. I didn’t try configure them with Chillispot making them having a radius link with Hotspotsystem.

    But can i still have the same operator username of my hotspotsystem account (let say mainoperator) if i have two different NASID (operator_1 and operator_2) on each routers.

    If there is another way to make it work i would be very happy to know it.

    You don’t have to configure the router with the script. You can sue the built in method. (the script is not run under service-hotspot, but rather administration- commands)

    What you can do is configure the router behind the 1st router with a nasid as per the WDS guide, so it reports to the control center as a WDS router, even if its connected by cable.

    Manual method: Add ‘_wds’ to the NASID. So if the NASID was ‘operator’, then modify it to ‘operator_wds’. If it was ‘operator_2’, then modify it to ‘operator_2_wds’. If you are using multiple WDS routers, you can add a number to it, so it will be ‘operator_wds_2’ or ‘operator_2_wds_2’. (Administration/Hotspot or Services/Hotspot > Chillispot tab on the router’s admin panel)

    If you are using the DD-wrt built-in setup method, then you should modify the “location ID” field. For location 1 this would be “1_wds” for location 2 this would be “2_wds”. If you are using multiple WDS routers, for example router 22, at location 1 would be “1_wds_22”.

    Yes but i had to run the script to make my first router running your system. So my second router is a brand new router, exactly the same as the main one. So to make it work with hotspotsystem i have to run the script.

    I tried to make set up my first router by writing the setup line under the hotspot part of my dd-wrt firmwar, it didn’t work. So according to what is written on HOTSPOTSYSTEM, in this case i had to run the script

    So i will have to configure my second router as a new one linking hotspotsystem.

    I do not have paying account, i simply want to have my two router under DD-WRT running as it would be two different free access point.

    Finally the ssid, mine is hotspotsystem.com-myoperatorname. It don’t mean anything for anyone who doesn’t know that it is. Is there a way to change that ?

    Then, i would be able to make the change having two NASID and two location. Am i right or there is something wrong in what i say ?

    You can change the SSID in the wireless/basic settings to anything you like.

    On the 2nd router you can have either a different location number, or you can use the same location number (using operator_wds in the NASID).
