Remote Monitoring Of Hotspot / Router?
You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
Hello all,
I was wondering what people are using to monitor the health of their installations?
I know there is an email generated by HotSpotSystem.com if a router is detected as down, but wanted to know what other tools people were using to monitor their systems?
It would be good to know what bandwidth is being used and to set up alerts, etc… without having to log into the control panel.
Any feedback?
Thanks!
Hi,
You can use the new SNMP service to monitor the bandwidth at your hotspot and see if you need to increase or reduce the existing bandwidth: http://hotspotsystem.blogspot.hu/2012/08/introducing-snmp-monitoring-service-beta.html
I suggest you use this bandwidth calculator to get a good estimate of your bandwidth requirements: http://www.bnecomputers.com/network-bandwidth-input.html
Hi Marko, thank you.
I have installed the HotSpotSystem.com firmware on the device and cannot find any SNMP settings there. AM I missing something or can I not do it with this installed?
Thanks
SNMP feature is not built-in to that firmware. However you can still try to install it manually. There is a tutorial here:http://www.coova.org/node/1401
You may try that one.
