Problem Setting Up Tp-Link Tl-Wdr3600 With Dd-Wrt

Hi there,
I’m trying to set up my hotspot (free basic) using a router (TP-LINK wdr3600) which has a dd-wrt firmware (building 20453 v24 sp2 std).
I also have created an account at hotspotsystem.com.
my network is the following:
a modem/router (internal ip 192.168.2.254)
the tp-link router (wan ip 192.168.2.1, internal ip 192.168.1.1)
everything works fine (I can get to the internet connected both via wifi and with cable) so I now started to set the hotspotsystem.com options.
without doing anything else, I entered the script that I found on my account web page (as seen in the youtube video “Setup Your Own Hotspot with LinkSys WRT54GL (Part 2)”, run the script and rebooted my router.
Now in my “locations” I can see my router in “devices list” with the right MAC address.
then i run a wifi scan command and I connect to my wifi network (the one managed by the tp-link) and connect to it getting the ip 192.168.1.100 with the proper netmask/gateway and dns 8.8.8.8 as set in the router previously.
so far so good
finally i opened the browser and tried to type an address such as http://www.google.com or cnn.com and it works as if the hotspotsystem isn’t enabled.
I also tried to reboot manually the router again, tried to insert the settings in the “service->hotspot->hotspotsystem.com” area, tried to setup the chillispot with the information I found on the forum but nothing worked.
Can you help me please?
many thanks
Matteo

Anonymous November 23, 2013 at 6:38 pmHello,
1. you should use builds 22118 or above
2. reset the firmware to factory defaults
3. you should set it up using our latest guide at http://www.hotspotsystem.com/installation-guide-dd-wrt

Hello,
first of all thanks for the reply,
i searched the dd-wrt site in order to get the most up-to-date version available for my router but i cant find any, seems that the only build available for it is the one I already got…
I will try to reset the router and follow the guide one more time.
anyhow i found an old guide on the forum (http://www.hotspotsystem.com/hotspot_help/kb/articles/47-i-d-like-to-manually-set-the-chillispot-settings-is-that-possible) and, even if my version has the hotspotsystem.com area, tried to set the chillispot options but it still does not work.
can you let me know if there is any way (except changing the firmware that as said is up to date for this model) to make this work?
Many thanks again, Matteo

sorry to bother you again…i seem to get it working…
now i get an ip address such as 192.168.182.XXX, the router status on the webpage says “up” and my browser is correctly redirect to “https://customer.hotspotsystem.com/customer/hotspotlogin.php?….” but then the browser says that the page is unavailable. Any suggestion?

What do you mean by: “but then”? What did you do, did you click on something?

sorry, I forgot a piece…
when I open the browser and type any url i see the the url changing to “https://customer.hot…login.php?….” and then, after some seconds, i get the “unavailable” error.
i checked the settings of my wireless card (set to automatically ask for an ip address) and see that the dns is set equal to the ip address of the modem/router. i tried to ping it from my laptop (while connected to the router/hotspot” but I cannot get a reply. is it correct or is it a dns reachability problem?
Anonymous November 24, 2013 at 4:19 pmWell, you should check it from an other browser too. But this can be a DNS issue if it cannot resolve customer.hotspotsystem.com. Try to set the DNS to 8.8.8.8, not your gateway IP.

Can you share how you managed to get the it to load the splash page? my setup is getting the same problem.
thanks!
