you are perfectly right. If you are using a hotspot system, all pages are forbidden except our servers and additional allowed sites. But if you added opera’s site to the allowed list, that would mean that all webpages would be browsable freely as all pages are coming through opera’s servers. So there is no workaround for this.

The newly released Kindle Fire has the same disadvantages except that users can turn off the ‘page optimization’ in kindle fire so the browser will work like other browsers and that way it would work with a hotspot.
