changed LAN ports to hotspot also now cant connect

    Hi,

    I flashed a Linksys WRT54gl router with the OpenWRT54glsquah.bin and everything loaded well and I was able to configure my router up perfectly and get my splash screen and everything to work through the built-in wireless on the router. I needed to also make the LAN ports on the back of this router to be able to get to bridge to the wireless and receive the splash screen also as I will be connecting a wired access point to the LAN ports to extend its coverage and I thought I did everything correct. The problem is now I can’t connect to the wireless or through the LAN ports, it will not give me a IP address. I statically assigned a IP in the correct range of the router to my laptop and when I use the LAN port to try to log into the Web GUI, it will not load. It get the “LuCI – Lua Configuration Interface” on the top right on a black background in my web browser and that as far as it will go, then it times out. I also tried to ping the IP that it used to be (192.168.1.1) but I get “Host destination unreachable” I also did the 30/30/30 hard reset and still no go..I’m afraid that by bridging the LAN ports also to the wireless, I can’t get to the routers web page to troubleshoot or make changes. Is there a way to get back into this router?

    Hello,

    If you set the LAN ports based on this article: http://help.hotspotsystem.com/knowledgebase/offer-hotspot-service-via-the-lan-ports-wired-connection then you won’t get the router on LAN since it gives the hotspot on LAN (else every user getting the hotspot from there could access your router). If you disconnect the internet, you can connect however. (If you haven’t touched the IP address of LAN port)
    You can set remote administration to be able to reach the router from WAN also. Check System > Administration if it accepts SSH from all ports. If yes, go to Network > Firewall and make sure the WAN > record shows ACCEPT ACCEPT DROP, defining that it will accept inbound connections originated outbound.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the reply, the problem is that I can’t connect to the router at all, either through the wireless or wired side? is there anyway to telent into the router or maybe even reflash it back to normal bin for now, until I can log in?

    Disconnect he router from the internet. Set a dynamic ip address on your PC and see what ip address you receive. Try to connect to the gateway of that network.

    Thank you for the link..I followed the instructions and was able to telnet in and run the “firstboot” command, I then typed the reboot -f and waited about 5 mins and then I powered the router off and back on. I tried to ping the router after i rebooted, but now I’m getting

    PING: Transmit Failed. General Failure error

    I rebooted my laptop and repaired my TCP/IP stack and connected my laptop to another network and I’m able to ping other devices on the network and 127.0.0.1 pings well. I also set my laptop to DHCP, but I’m not getting any IP’s nor can I ping the router at all. I also did a hard reset but that didn’t seem to have helped. any other suggestions? Thank you for all your help!

    Thank you guys for your help. I think I’m just going to order the Mikrotik RB/750 Mini-Router. I think this older Linksys router is just to outdated. If I need anymore help setting up my new RouterOS I’ll make sure to come here for help.
