Connect Via Wifi Between Router And Airrouter-Hp (No Cable)

    Hi

    Could you please assist with following issue.

    AirRouter-HP
    AirOS V 5.5.3.

    We currently have two scenarios.

    Scenario 1

    I’ve got a Netgear Wireless-N 300 Modem Router DGN2200. I would like to setup the hot spot with wifi from the Netgear Router to the airRouter Hp with out using the LAN cable (bridge & LAN) .

    I have successfully configured the Hotspot using the LAN cable connected as indicated in the installation documets.

    Would this be possible?

    Scenario 2

    I’ve got a D-Link Model: DSL-2750U with 3G capability after configuring the D-Link with 3G internet access I would like to connect the airRouter Hp with out a cable using wifi between the two devices creating the Hotspot. I configured the airRouter Hp to a (station) and used it as a repeater a I am unable to use the D-link Router as a repeater I could successfully connect but lost the Hotspot function as the T&C page did not display. I believe it is because the airRouter is repeating the D-Link router.

    Would this be possible for me to connect the two devices using wifi to create the hot spot.

    Thank you for your message. In case you don’t want to use cables you need to setup a Wireless Distribution System, or WDS. Please note that WDS setup is very sensitive even one missed out step can brake the connection between the main and the additional routers. You need to make sure that both routers support WDS. You should perform the steps in our tutorial on both router administrator menus of your devices. In case both routers support WDS the same options will be available.     We recommend you don’t use repeaters but buy additional cheap routers with our system and use WDS in order to extend the range of your hotspot. Please make sure that the additional routers support WDS.

    The reason why we don’t recommend the use of repeaters is that after the first successful login of one user all the users behind the first user will have free internet access.
