Don't Understand Why Router Internal Ip Cannot Be Choosen

Hello,

I'm trying to install your hotspotsystem (for R&D) to propose a solution to my customers.

I have a problem while configuring the system on a DD-WRT router (Linksys WRT54G 2.2)

First of all, i can't find the “HotSpotSystem” in DD-WRT, so i tried to use the command line option to configure it.

When i go to Manage -> Locations, i can't choose the IP of the AP! WTF!

I'm forced to use the 192.168.X.1

And my AP is 192.168.1.2 because i already have a router on 192.168.1.1 who is connecting to the internet.

What can i do ??

I tried with 20.1 but it doesn't work.. of course this is a bad IP i think.

The connection works fine but the “filter” is not active.

WRT54G is a router. Each router has a LAN network. 192.168.1.2 is the router's IP from the WAN side. But the router creates a subnet which has to be different from that.

The router's internet connection (WAN) has to be set up in the router, prior to the installation and this won't change. 192.168.20.1 will be the routers sub network address. And this can also be modified later in the router's settings.

After you run the command, the router's LAN ports will be change to paid ports, so you have to log in to the hotspot first before you can access the router on 192.168.20.1

Thank you for your answer.

I tried a lot of configurations, first of all i configure the WRT54G to get internet connection through my VDSL gateway. (with this procedure: http://www.dd-wrt.co…ss_Access_Point )

It's working, there is internet connection on LAN et WiFi.

But when i start to configure this step:

I have no IP adress delivered in WiFi. It is exactly the same with the router setup command option.

(But with LAN connection internet is always working fine)

When i change settings to get a local IP adress, the internet connection is fully open through WiFi.

Is it possible to configure the WRT54G as an AP only with this hotspot system ??

I updated the WRT with this firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/07/10) std

And tried the other configuration.. but didn't work either.

Hello,

My problem is solved.

The thing is that preparing the router is totally wrong.

To configure the Linksys WRT54G in AP mode (with another ADSL or VDSL router handling the internet connection) you just need to set the WAN Connection Type to Static IP, with corrects parameters.

As explain, the router must have an internet access, so check the time NTP (i used 0.europe.pool.ntp.org) and execute the script in administration.

Finally i had to add DNS IP in Services -> HotSpot -> ChilliSpot.

I used Google public DNS 8.8.8.8, no way to get an LAN IP Address without adding this parameter.
