Hotspot system on dump AP

    Hi,

    I’ve been struggling with configuring Hotspot on my E2000. My setup is Asus ac-66u as my main router (need it for 200+mb WAN). I have installed dd-wrt build 22188 configured is as a DUMB AP using ddwrt WIKI. I’m going thou configuration of hotspotsystem I’m getting even email that my hotspot is configure OK. I can connect easly to Hotspot Wifi, I’m getting proper IP from 192.168.182.0/20 network but I cannot ping gateway of it 192.168.182.1 and I dont have any internet from it.. It has be some easy fix for that..

    I hope only one of those is running the hotspot.
    WAN and LAN IP ranges of the E2000 should not conflict. You can set the AC66u to 192.168.20.1 and the E2000 to 192.168.10.1
    Hotspot remains on 192.168.182.0 from the Hotspot configuration.
    However hotspot throughput would be limited compared to the 200Mbps please note.
    E2000 should be run on this firmware: http://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2013/07-24-2013-r22118/broadcom_K3X/dd-wrt.v24-22118_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-e2000.bin after a proper reset(administration>Factory defaults). saving/Loading the configuration is not recommended and will mess the configuration.
    Local DNS setting of 8.8.8.8 is highly recommended on SEtup>Basic setup page as well as disabling DHCP server for the hotspot router. Hotspot itself is assigning addresses. All of these are covered in the DD-WRT guide in more detail.

    Yea correct only E2000 is acting as a Hotspot AP. Ive managed to get it working in diffrent way.
    ac66u with his dhcp etc is not touched. All settings are on E2000 so to start with
    I setup E2000 within the same range as ac66u. I set DNS to 8.8.8.8 and gateway pointing to ac66u. Of cource DHCP and all 3 ticks on E2000 are disabled. Wireless network is unabridged with Multicast and Masquerade Enabled. I put in IP section 192.168.20.1 with netmask 255.255.255.0 and it started to work. Im getting slash screen etc. I have tried latest builds with partial luck. HSS is getting configured but redirection to splash screen is not (ddwrt bug http://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/5476) so basicly build r22118 is fine to setup HSS on second ddwrt device in the same network
