Macauth Type Question
-
Anonymous August 27, 2012 at 7:46 am
Hi again! ๐
One more question please:
When you do a mouse over Macauth Type in control panel there is a NOTE which explains that, '' this will change the password of your existing users in radius table! ''
[attachment=101:HotSpotSystem.com – Control Center_1346052440503.png]
My question is, if you 'play' with those different types of Macauth Type is there a possibility to 'destroy' your record on radius table, and if it happens how somebody can fix it?
**Sorry for all those questions but i cannot explain how i lost the green flag from the map, also why my device do not appears on Device list even i send life signals
regards,
michalis
Anonymous August 27, 2012 at 12:39 pmHello,
No, the record will not be destroyed if you change the Macauth Type. It is simply the format that your router will use when it send our servers the authentication message. It is not recommended to change this setting unless you are having difficulty logging in.
Which green flag did you lose?
If the router is showing down that means our servers cannot see your router. The router sends a signal to our server, which then send return traffic to detect the router state, but this traffic can be blocked by a firewall in your network. After making any changes you will need to wait an hour for the next life signal.
Anonymous August 27, 2012 at 2:51 pmMarko,
Thanks for your answer and sorry..i have tired with this problem, also you and Roland! Sorry again!
Yes, i know all of them where you say, but i can't understand why happens that! Without ANY change from my side and without reason after 14 August it lost the life signal.
I do not know what else to try. ๐
Thanks!
Anonymous August 27, 2012 at 3:15 pmCan you try to set up the script again? Is the router plugged directly to the internet or is there some gateway infront of it?
Anonymous August 29, 2012 at 12:28 pmHi Marko!
Sorry for my delayed answer, but i was looking for find an answer to my problem.. ๐
Yes, the Mikrotik connected directly to the router. My router is a Netgear DG834 with disabled SPI firewall

Also i have run a last online port scan test from shieldsup (grc.com) to check my ports. Everything is open!

And of course i see the script that runs as it appeared in control panel.

I can't think something else.. ๐
Thanks,

Anonymous August 29, 2012 at 12:48 pmTry to reboot the Netgear (sometimes this helps) and also try to plug the Mikrotik infront of the Netgear.
Anonymous August 30, 2012 at 5:24 pmHi Marko!
What i have done after all these until now. ๐
A new Mikrotik installation with new configuration file and exactly the same results as above but…
I was trying to test manually the script inside Mikrotik terminal and the results are those it tries to connect for a monent with server but after 1 second appeared the message as it looks on photo
[attachment=118:P1010497.JPG]
I was doing copy-paste the script from hotspotsystem webpage as is without any change!
Also i see that, the time where the script runs there is a 100% CPU load ! ๐
Some idea why happens this with the script?
Thanks,
michalis
Anonymous September 10, 2012 at 7:18 pmHi,
After 1 month i found the problem..and the solution! ๐
As i wrote before some days (previus post) i was making a new installation with new configuration but without any luck!
I was thinking…O.K everything i was doing until now was without results, lets making a new hotspot account, just for test! (i mean not a second location as i already have)
And the results was very good! Everything now works perfect BUT only with this new hotspot account!
I replaced only the identity with the identity of my “old” account and DID NOT worked.
So, i am absolute sure that the problem is from hotspotsystem service and not from me..unfortunately
Please,
as it is not good idea to keep the new account can you see what happens?
I attach some photos with results (the ip and the last 2 digits of MAC are drawed)

Anonymous September 11, 2012 at 10:26 amHi Michalis,
Did you wait 1 hour after changing the the identity? Life signal can take up to 1 hour to propagate to the server and show the router status.
Anonymous September 11, 2012 at 2:25 pmHi Marko! ๐
No, it is not work! I was waiting about 3 or 4 hours. Today also i checked it again.
It is very strange that, after 3 or 4 times when the script runs with 'old' identity (harakiri_2) there is a 100 CPU! ๐
I can't explain it!
I changed the identity with the new account name (techlab_1) i was doing reboot and everything works perfect now!
thanks,
michalis
