No Internet Acces and no Landing Page after enableing HOTSPOTSYSTEM

  • We have TP LINK WR841ND with DDWRT (192.168.1.1) .
Here its has a phisical SSD red and another virtual one “ddwrt_vap” set up by HPS.
As long as HPS is not enabled we have full Internet Acces on the phisical SSD
After HPS is enabled we have no longer internet access on the phisical SSD and we also dond see any landing page on the “ddwrt_vap” SSD. On the HPS website the router was never recognized as online.

WAN is a Cable Modem (192.168.0.1)

If we disable HSP on the router and restart it then we have internet again on the phisical SSD.
8.8.8.8 was set up as DNS for fixing no result.
Also the 3 DSN options were disabled for fixing no result.

We are pertty new to HPS but if we can fix this up, we would realy enjoy setting up some big Hotspots in our Area.

    Update:

The DDWRT Build is DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/09/15) std (SVN revision 26866)

I used this firmware for 9.3 TP Link Model:
    http://dd-wrt.com/site/support/other-downloads?path=betas%2F2015%2F05-09-2015-r26866%2Ftplink_tl-wr841ndv9%2F

When I join the virtual SSID (ddwrt_vap) the Ip that I recive is still 192.168.1.100 with 192.168.1.1 as gateway.I was expecting 192.168.182.x and 192.168.182.1 for gateway

I tried it with the newest fireware avablible on another peace of hardware (same model) same problem. After enableing HSS I tried to ping 195.228.254.149 with a failture. Internet only will be working again if i disable HSS and reset the router once.

    Hello Christian,

You need to configure the hotspot on the virtual wireless interface if you do want to use two SSIDs.
It should be done according to the guide and the linked article on DD-WRT interfaces. You need to unbridge the interface and set the upcoming interface name (ath 0.1 for TP-Link probably) under Services>Hotspot. If it fails to run good, you need to use an older firmware. Like from the end of 2014. (if the current ones are buggy)

    Regards,
    Steve

I have the same symptoms with my WR841N and a current dd-wrt (6/27/2015). What is a known-good version of the firmware?

I just tried again with an older firmware version from 12/15/2014 and it immediately started working without a single configuration change.
