Suddenly A User Name And Password Is Required To Access Hotspot

  • Our free resident hotspot system has been operating fine for about nine months now. I set up a splash screen where the user must agree to the terms and conditions and enter a Real name and email address just for tracking purposes. It uses a Nanostation 2 801.11 device with the custom AirOs from Hotspotsystem. I don’t have the firmware version but was the latest in November of 2011. A couple of days ago I updated the bandwidth limits and after that the splash screen asks for a user name and password which of course no one has. Something seems broken in the hotspot system authenication process.

What is your operator id? Please send a screenshot of what the splash page looks like right now.

My id is FlagHarborCondo. The attached file depicts a blue plain marina skin with a username and password box. It was a “I agree” checkbox until last Wednesday when I changed the bandwidth settings. After that the user name and password blocks appeared. I have rebooted the Nanostation with no change. The Hotspot (coovachilli) is currently disabled on the Nanostation in order for people to use the hotspot. Today I reenabled the hotspot and restarted chilli, made sure the nanostation indicated “up” on your website, made a minor modification to the splash screen and submitted. A message indicated no change was made to splash screen which indeed is the case. My next step is to reload the firmware in the nanostation but currently don't have access to a wired connection to do that.

I am having exactly the same problem. If i make just one chnage then I get promopted fro a username and a password

This was a glitch on our end. We have corrected the problem.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for bringing that to our attention!

Thanks for the quick response. Its back up.
