We would like to know what is the purpose of this configuration scenario? Are you trying to connect two routers is a wireless way? If yes, then we suggest you set up a WDS instead: http://help.hotspotsystem.com/knowledgebase/extend-range-with-wds-wireless-distribution-system
We would like to inform you that you need to edit a configuration file on the router to perform this operation.
So, you need to SSH to your router using an ssh client like Putty, the same way you did when you set up the router. To do this please repeat step 5 of our installation guide: http://www.hotspotsystem.com/installation-guide-ubiquiti-airmax
Once you are in the router. Type the following:
cd /etc
cd chilli
vi defaults
Scroll down to:
HS_DNS1=8.8.8.8
HS_DNS2=8.8.4.4
press the INSERT button on your keyboard and change the values
from:
HS_DNS1=8.8.8.8
HS_DNS2=8.8.4.4
to:
HS_DNS1=208.67.222.222
HS_DNS2=208.67.220.220
press the ESC (escape) button on your keyboard. Type “:wq”
Reboot your router.
That’s it. You can now use openDNS for the Ubiquiti router that has openwrt firmware installed.

Thank you for your message. Your question was answered via email: your master account was set to 1kbit/2kbit which is extremely low bandwidth and was causing issues. We recommend to all of our hotspot operators to use unlimited bandwidth for master accounts.

Thank you for your message. Firstly, the revision number of your router is very important to know. Only revision numbers 1.0, 2.0, 2.2, 3.0, 3.1, 4.0 are supported from Linksys wrt54g. The LinkSys Wrt54G is a very old router, and our system doesn’t work on all the versions of this series of routers. From Linksys we always recommend the Linksys WRT54GL that is still available in the market.

The Ubiquiti AirRouter Wireless-N Router will work with our system. You can change the IP address of the router when you log in to it so it doesn’t match the IP address on the WAN side e.g you can set IP address 192.128.20.1 for the router
In case the firmware of the Ubiquiti AirRouter is 5.5 you will need to download the custom Ubiquiti firmware from our website and upload it to the router. You need to follow this guide: http://www.hotspotsystem.com/installation-guide-ubiquiti-airmax
In case the firmware of the Ubiquiti AirRouter is 5.6 you need to install openwrt firmware with the script method you performed before. We will inform you of the steps and of the necessary file you need to upload to the router once you have it. You will be supported.
Both solutions will work fine.
Thank you for your reply. The LinkSys Wrt54G is a very old router, and our system doesn’t work on all the versions of this series of routers. Probably, this is the case. You can still use this router if you connect it to a router that is compatible to our system.
We recommend the Linksys WRT54GL that is still available in the market. We have tested this router and you will not experience such issues.
If you want to use newer technology (wireless n) we suggest you have a look at the Ubiquiti airrouter (http://www.ubnt.com/airrouter). This is also a router that we have tested and works well with our system.
All the above routers are standard routers and can handle between 20-30 simultaneous accesses. If you want to handle much higher loads you should look into Mikrotik routers. The load a Mikrotik router can handle depends on the amount of memory it has.

You performed the steps perfectly but it is very unfortunate that it didn’t work for your type of router. It may confuse our future operators as they will think that it is not working. In any case, if you need any further help please inform us so we can assist you.
Thank you for the screenshot. If you haven’t performed any changes on the router settings of the openwrt router and just executed the script then you should be getting the hotspot splash page.
Please note that the router you are using is around 10 years old (wrt54g). From the very beginning we always recommended the newer Linksys WRT54GL and not the WRT54G.
In your youtube video you performed the process perfectly. You didn’t miss any step. Just it didn’t work for your type of router.
What we suspect is that the versions of the dd-wrt firmware and openwrt you are using are brand new and will not work on your router.
We recommend you use a very old version of dd-wrt firmware that is capable of bringing up the hotspot splash page. The build number we recommend for your router is 14311. This version of dd-wrt was around when your router was sold in the market and our company is also integrated in that build.
In order to remove the openwrt firmware you need to reset your router while its being powered on. Unplug the power cable and while the router is being powered on hold the reset button which is found at the back of the router until the front lights of the router are flashing. During the first minute of the reset you need to tftp to the router and upload the linksys factory firmware. When that is completed you need to upload the dd-wrt firmware.
You can use a programme like Pumpkin to tftp to the router. Please make sure you first upload the Linksys factory firmware.

Thank you for your message. Basically, you are asking if our system supports MAC address authentication. The answer is yes, our system does support MAC address authentication. You have to enter the MAC address of your mobile phone in the administrator settings of your router. In order to find the correct setting, it depends what firmware type you have installed on your router.
