Hello,
Up but not sending life signal means that our servers cannot see your router. ‘this does not prohibit operation of the hotspot.
The router sends a signal to our server, but this traffic can be blocked by a firewall in your
network, or the SPI firewall feature on the router. Turning it off can resolve the problem. In DDWRT this is under Security/Firewall and check Disable beside SPI Firewall. Be sure to click “Save Settings” at the bottom of the page for this to stick. However if you have run out of sessions then your hotspot will not be functional until the new monthly quota starts. By upgrading you get 3,000 sessions per month along with the customization options and the usage logs.
Nigel,
The ip address you receive is fine, it means chilli is running (wlan controller). Open a command prompt and ping hotspotsystem.com. If it does not resolve then you may need to add a DNS server.
Try to ping hotspotsystem.com again, or the actual ip address 195.228.254.149. Both should work
Additionally we recommend using build number 22118 as it has proven stable across many hardware platforms, although results vary.
Hello,
Yes, all Ubiquiti brand routers are supported via the OpenWrt firmware. For the install guide see: http://www.hotspotsystem.com/installation-guide-ubiquiti-airmax
Hello,
Our system logs user in based on their username/voucher or mac address. It is not possible to prohibit a user from logging in based on what email address he enters.
Hello,
Thank you for posting your suggestion! Please note that SMS authentication does not cost the operator anything. It is not priced the same as the FREE SMS solution which charges according to how many SMS you send.
The main difference is:
FREE SMS sends an access code by SMS which enables the user to login.
SMS authentication sends a verification code to a mobile device which a user must enter when logging in with a voucher that is provided by you. This requires a voucher code be already supplied to the user. In this case no credit is deducted for the SMS.In both cases the system records the user’s mobile number which helps identify the user, this is also a legal requirement in some countries for public hotspots. The proper link is: http://help.hotspotsystem.com/knowledgebase/customization-basics
In order to use an iframe with the walled garden feature you need to subscribe to Basic+.
See: http://help.hotspotsystem.com/faq/basic/how-do-i-upgrade-to-basic-plus
Sorry, I now understand what you meant. In that case you can use radius based mac authentication which will permit those users with valid access to bypass the splash page. See: http://help.hotspotsystem.com/knowledgebase/using-mac-authentication-macauth
This solution will only work with the basic (and basic+) solution and will not redirect users to a URL of your choice.Hello,
Yes it is, see: http://help.hotspotsystem.com/easier-re-logins-customizable-idle-timeout
Hello,
After you run the command you need to enter reboot, but sometimes it is better to manually power cycle the router.
Is the router properly connected to the internet? Can you see a dhcp lease on the modem/gateway for the router’s mac address?
Be sure to download the firmware for the WRT54GL frmo this link: http://www.hotspotsystem.com/firmware/openwrt/LINKSYS/openwrt-wrt54g-squashfs.bin
After that you just need to run the command, see step 5 and 6 of this guide: http://www.hotspotsystem.com/installation-guide-ubiquiti-airmax

Set the connecting device to DHCP. Check what ip address you receive and try connecting to the gateway ip address of the subnet.
Try the same with the wireless connection. If the router does not accept a connection, try setting the device to a static ip address on the subnet and connect that way.
Make sure the router is not connected to the internet when performing the above.
Hello,
If the router is connected to a device which leases it an ip address then you can figure that out from the dhcp lease list on that device and connect through that ip.
If it is not connected to anything then it will probably be reachable on 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.20.
You can also connect through the SSID and configure the router that way.
Allen,
what ip adress do you receive when you connect to the router?
What build of dd-wrt are you using?
Is the router connected to the internet?
Connect to the router by wifi and try to ping customer.hotspotsystem.com. If not resolved, try to ping the ip address of 195.228.254.149. This can help figure out if the probel may be due to dns.Thank you for the suggestion. Currently the pop-up window is the only way to check for the balance. Our developers will take this into consideration.
