It is not compatible.
Any model COULD be compatible the first time once it’s listed on openwrt.org or https://lede-project.org/.
If it’s not there then it cannot be used. If it’s there it means theoretically it could be used once you set it up with the image on their site, this is not for beginners.
Once we have built a firmware for it from that image and we list it in our firmware section, then you can use it.
This is not true globally. We could not reproduce these results in our office at all.
You are using an unsupported device with an untested OpenWRT version, this obviously affects the result. We are trying to find out what’s causing this.
Could you report your OpenWRT build number? The 5 digit number what you can see under System>Summary or at the start of the SSH session. Again, we need that exact number.
You can restrict free accesses under Manage>Locations>your location>Modify hotspot data>Set default limits(set 1 login per 24hrs). The access package they get should be 1hr.
There was a buggy file for the TLWR1043 V1 uploaded previously, but we have replaced the files so they can be used now successfully to upgrade the TPlink routers in question.
Old routers should be used with old builds.
22118 has not proved to be critically buggy in a single case yet.

The guides and articles there were put together based on dozens of hours/cases by IT veterans and work flawlessly in most cases if followed correctly.
If you don’t get a splash page after the wireless node has been set to Unbridged (NAT/masquerade enabled with default zeros all over), and the Services>Hotspot>Hotspot system>DHCP interface>new upcoming wireless node acknowledged by a reboot, then that build will not work.
I hope only one of those is running the hotspot.
WAN and LAN IP ranges of the E2000 should not conflict. You can set the AC66u to 192.168.20.1 and the E2000 to 192.168.10.1
Hotspot remains on 192.168.182.0 from the Hotspot configuration.
However hotspot throughput would be limited compared to the 200Mbps please note.
E2000 should be run on this firmware: http://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2013/07-24-2013-r22118/broadcom_K3X/dd-wrt.v24-22118_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-e2000.bin after a proper reset(administration>Factory defaults). saving/Loading the configuration is not recommended and will mess the configuration.
Local DNS setting of 8.8.8.8 is highly recommended on SEtup>Basic setup page as well as disabling DHCP server for the hotspot router. Hotspot itself is assigning addresses. All of these are covered in the DD-WRT guide in more detail.
You can skip the Hap lite from the chain easily. (once Edgerouter runs the hotspot)
Once the Edgerouter is giving the splash page, all APs should be used in transparent bridge/AP mode.
Linksys E1200 can be used by a disabled DHCP server (even factory firmware or DDWRT 21061 for stability) and connected by its LAN ports (when by default bridged with its wifi) to the Edgerouter via switches.
It could work.
You can whitelist (http://help.hotspotsystem.com/knowledgebase/using-mac-authentication-macauth) the MAC address in the Rocket M2 in /etc/chilli/defaults for any device (C7 here) that has a NAT firewall (regular router mode). In this case it hides all devices behind and seems (from WAN) on its NAT only, and since you whitelist its MAC all devices get free internet from behind.
